The Dandelion Hideaway

Let the good times begin!

The Dandelion Hideaway offers the ultimate glamping experience. Six spacious canvas cottages nestled into the idyllic Leicestershire countryside on Osbaston House Farm, offer fun for families and romance for couples.  There are vintage chic interiors and a roll top bath in the en suite bathroom, with lashings of hot water. Each has a well equipped kitchen with a butler’s sink and a traditional range cooker. Five of the canvas cottages sleep six, whilst Bluebells is just for two romantics and comes with its own treehouse, Bluebell’s Nest, and a private wood burning hot tub.

Set on a working farm, owners John and Sharon, set out to take glamping to new levels of luxury when they set up in 2011.  Sharon created spacious safari style tents with en suite roll top baths and designed vintage-chic, nostalgic interiors. The concept has appealed to families who could take a breather from the high-tech world and reconnect with each other, as well as providing a romantic setting that has led to several proposals and the perfect environment for friends to gather and have a relaxed, fun and affordable experience.

Located on the edge of Charnwood Forest, this picturesque 250 acre working farm has goats, horses, Shetland ponies, ducks and hens. Find out about life down on the farm, including how to milk the goats, from Farmer John, whose family has farmed here for 100 years, whilst Sharon will teach children pony grooming and how to raise hens.

Children will love shopping in the Cow Shed Stores, where they can help themselves to supplies, including local bacon for breakfast and sausages for the barbeque, recording their purchases on the blackboard, to be settled at the end of their stay.

Wake up to collect freshly laid eggs for breakfast, spot Badgers at dusk from the nature hide and finish the day toasting marshmallows around the camp fire.  In between, ditch the high tech games and TV for the Discovery Trunk, filled with books and ways to inspire children and adults to explore and identify the surrounding countryside, plus artists’ materials to record them.

The Dandelion Hideaway is an award winning luxurious glamping destination, having been voted Self-Catering Holiday Provider of the year for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 at the regional Leicestershire Excellence in Tourism Awards. In 2014 The Dandelion Hideaway went on to win the Bronze award in the Self-Catering Holiday Provider of the Year category of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014. This is the first time that Glamping has been included in the awards.

Romantic Glamping in the Woods with Hot Tub

Bluebells, the utterly delightful, truly romantic place in the woods with a romantic hot tub! Bluebells is located on the far edge of a small woodland spinney in the picturesque open countryside. This is a fabulous location, with wonderful far reaching views of glorious countryside, a real old fashioned farm landscape with woodland, tall hedges, and patchwork quilt fields. Bluebells is tucked into the ancient woodland with just the veranda peeping out of the spinney to hug the countryside.

Bluebells, the opulent, romantic canvas cottage just for two to spend lazy, tranquil days, has been joined by a little sister, the bijou Bluebell’s Nest – an elevated wooden haven snuggled up against woodland and suspended over a drift of wild flowers. Inside the Nest two young adventurers will be cosy under plump eiderdowns on antique iron beds. Bluebells and Bluebell’s Nest are just a few feet apart and are always taken together as a pair.

Lounging & Munching

Bluebells has been lovingly designed to create a nostalgic and enchanting atmosphere. The generous sitting and dining room includes:

• French day bed, perfect for relaxing with an old Penguin classic.

• Antique leather chesterfield and an old trunk filled with items to help you discover the picturesque countryside.

• A huge dresser sets the style and ambience of the room with vintage crockery on show, an abundance of cookware and old recipe books.

• The heart of the room is a delightful wood burning range, with an oven and large stove top for preparing delicious breakfasts and late suppers. Oh and not forgetting the traditional whistling kettle!~

Heaps of delightful cushions and luxurious throws are piled onto the leather chesterfield sofa, rocking chairs and day bed. The atmosphere is pure country home with faded florals, checks and stripes; relaxing and enjoying the rural rhythm of life is just so easy-peasy! All of the furniture is vintage-inspired, lovingly collected from auction houses or drafted, (sneakily!) from the farmhouse. The addition of the day bed in the living area recreates an ancient tradition of day-time relaxation.

Filled with charm and romance the bedroom is home to

• A gorgeous mahogany sleigh bed, dressed with the finest goose down duvet and pillows, topped off with a beautiful vintage-style padded eiderdown.
